Built on Belief Proposals
The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) invites proposals for a site partner in co-creating the inaugural place-based project under the CAC’s Built on Belief initiative. This year-long collaboration will result in a public project that explores the intersections of architecture, religion, and spirituality, expanding public access to Chicago’s rich religious heritage while fostering reflection, connection, and shared meaning.

Built On Belief Initiative
The Chicago Architecture Center, with support from Lilly Endowment Inc. through its Religion and Cultural Institutions Initiative, is launching a series of place-based activations over the next several years. These community-focused projects will activate specific sites to explore the intersections of architecture, built environment, religion, spirituality and sacred space.
The CAC is seeking a site partner for the inaugural project that amplifies the significance of Chicago’s religious and spiritual architecture. Through a collaborative year-long process between the site partner, creative partner(s) and the CAC, this activation will increase access to religious architecture and sacred spaces while strengthening local communities.
The Chicago Architecture Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 1966, dedicated to inspiring people to discover why design matters. A national leader in architecture and design education, the CAC offers tours, programs, exhibitions and more that are part of a dynamic journey of lifelong learning.
