Americans care deeply about the health of their families, the vitality of their neighborhoods, and the price they pay for their lifestyles. But few people understand how their everyday habits shape the world. Loop Value: The How Much Does It Cost? Shop demonstrates that we can design our lives for health and happiness.

How Much Does It Cost?
contrasts sticker price with the costs that we really pay for the products we buy. The exhibition takes you on a shopping trip through a dozen colorful departments, ranging from Gardening to Electronics to Shoes to Pets. In each, you will discover hidden costs while learning how your values shape the future of your community.

Loop Value: The How Much Does It Cost? Shop
opened February 17 in the ArcelorMittal CitySpace Gallery at the Chicago Architecture Foundation, 224 South Michigan Avenue. This project is made possible through the generous support of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Illinois Sustainable Education Project (I-StEP), the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation, and Illinois American Water.

How Much Does It Cost?

Tag along to fun and exciting corners of Chicago with scholars and experts as they reveal what’s hiding behind that price tag! They contrast sticker price with the costs that we—as individuals and a community—really pay for the things we buy and the places we build. These segments were produced as part of the exhibition Loop Value: The How Much Does It Cost? Shop, which opened at the Chicago Architecture Foundation on February 17, 2012.
