– What is the sunlight doing to the building?
– Are shadows being created on the building?
– What colors are represented in the building?
The Three Main Types of Shots
1 Environmental Shot: Consider what the building looks like in its environment. What is the context around the building? Is there anything interesting about how the building sits next to its neighbors?
2 Portrait of the Building: This photo is to capture the building itself. Try to capture most or all of the building.
3 Detail Shot: What features of the building are particularly interesting?
– How does it meet the ground?
– How does it meet the sky?
– How is it constructed? Are there interesting windows? Glass treatments?
– Does it have interesting building materials?
