Four living units for “Grandfamilies”
A “Grandfamily” is a new term for a family
where the grandparents, great-grandparents, other relatives
or close family friends are raising a child because
the biological parents are unable to do so. There are
nearly 7 million children in the United States who are
being cared for in this way.
You are the architect for a new housing complex for
4 grandfamilies on a site at 64th and Hamilton that
is comprised of 5 City of Chicago standard lots.
Who is eligible to enter
in this category?
Third year architecture students
must enter a project in either Division 8 or Division
9. Upon completion of one of these projects, you are
eligible to enter a second project in Division 4, 5,
6, 7 or 10.
In addition to Chicago Public School students enrolled
in a third year architecture class, any first or second
year student is eligible to register. Any CPS high school
student not registered in an architecture course is
also welcome to enter this division.
