Join the Auxiliary Board

The Chicago Architecture Foundation Auxiliary Board is a group of volunteers interested in architecture who are dedicated to fundraising efforts that support the Foundation's programs. Founded over 35 years ago, the Auxiliary Board supports the Board of Trustees and the Chicago Architecture Foundation by advancing the growth of the organization through fundraising activities and financial contributions. Auxiliary Board members broaden their appreciation of architecture through educational programs, Behind-the-Scenes tours, and visits to some of Chicago’s most interesting spaces.

In addition to the general support of the Chicago Architecture Foundation, the Auxiliary Board is proud to support the Chicago Architecture Foundation's youth education programming, specifically, the annual Taliesin apprenticeships. Each year, top prize-winning students from the Newhouse Program and Architecture Competition are awarded a trip to Frank Lloyd Wright’s School of Architecture in Spring Green, Wisconsin. While at Taliesin, students work with mentors on design projects. The Newhouse Scholars follow Frank Lloyd Wright’s model of “learning by doing” and participate in every aspect of life as part of the Taliesin community.

Membership Commitment

Auxiliary Board membership is $175 for an individual membership or $350 for a household membership. In addition to membership dues, Auxiliary Board members also pledge a minimum donation of $500 (individual members) and $1,000 (household members) annually. To satisfy this pledge, Auxiliary Board members are asked to either purchase tickets to the annual gala or make an equivalent cash donation to the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

Additionally, to enhance your participation on the Board, we ask members to encourage friends, contacts, and colleagues to:

  • Purchase tickets to the annual gala
  • Make a silent auction donation for the annual gala
  • Purchase tickets to other Auxiliary Board events
  • Make a charitable contribution to the Chicago Architecture Foundation
