Since the 1960s, many of Chicago's most famous buildings have been built with concrete. Learn about the history and environmental impacts of concrete in Chicago and discover how the material is increasingly being used to build many of the world’s tallest buildings and Chicago’s newest structures. Highlights include Hilliard Towers Apartments on the Near South Side; the Contemporaine Condominiums in River North; and a one-hour stop at Ozinga's riverside concrete plant, where you’ll get to learn how concrete is made and view work being done in a concrete research laboratory.
