Thank you for your interest in becoming a docent at the Chicago Architecture Center.
We will begin accepting applications for the 2019 docent class on December 4, 2018. The application deadline is January 8, 2019.
Docent training is a rigorous experience that aims to give new docents a broad understanding of architecture and architectural language as well as confident mastery of two specific tours. It consists of classroom learning; homework; reading to prepare the new docent to give enthusiastic, personalized CAC tours; and on-the-street practice with docent mentors.
If you are accepted into the docent training class and voluntarily leave the program after it starts, the CAC will request a reimbursement of $500 in training and materials costs. If you are accepted into the program, you will be required to become a member of the CAC and submit to a background check.
