Wright is best-known for his urban and suburban houses. Lesser known are the more than 40 summer "cottages" he designed in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ontario. Among these, Penwern captures many design elements that would become hallmarks of his emerging Prairie Style. Come learn more at this engaging daytime talk!
Mark Hertzberg is the author and photographer of three books about Frank Lloyd Wright's work in Racine, Wisconsin. His fourth Wright book—being published in June, 2019—is about Penwern, Wright's Fred B. Jones house and estate on Delavan Lake. Hertzberg is also a contributing author to "Frank Lloyd Wright: Preservation, Design, and Adding to Iconic Buildings", which evolved from the 2010 Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy conference in Cincinnati. He has lectured widely on Wright’s work including being the "Expert Lecturer" for Road Scholar's Frank Lloyd Wright tours in Wisconsin. Hertzberg is the newsletter editor and secretary of "Wright in Wisconsin", the only statewide group devoted to the architect’s work.
