Learn how architecture can help revitalize neighborhoods at this workshop with designers from global architecture firm Perkins and Will. We’ll look at the firm’s design for a new Green Line station and discuss how it can invigorate the Near West Side.
Opening later this year, the new Green Line elevated train station at Damen Avenue and Lake Street leverages design to provide a convenient, affordable and attractive transportation amenity for the community. We’ll ask you to look at the ways the station integrates transportation into an urban site and discuss how its plaza and temporary structures might be designed to enhance local events and express ethnicity. This studio will be led by Lori Day, Rob Yennerell, and Mark Walsh, designers at Perkins and Will—an international firm that believes design has the power to inspire joy, uplift lives and strengthen the spirit of community.
