Book Talk: Will Quam’s Fire and Clay

In "Fire and Clay", Will Quam explores how brick evolved from its role as a fireproof building material to a defining feature of Chicago’s buildings and neighborhoods. Through stories of architecture, craftsmanship and urban development, he examines how developers, architects and masons responded to changing architectural styles as they shaped the city and connected its neighborhoods.

Together, these stories uncover the hidden history of Chicago through one of its most enduring building materials, offering a new perspective on the city's built environment.

Following the presentation and a short break, Quam will be signing books in the CAC Design Store from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Limited copies of "Fire and Clay" will be available for purchase at the event, at the CAC Design Store and online.
