Chicago’s 7 Most Endangered Buildings in 2026

Since 2001, Preservation Chicago’s “Chicago 7” Most Endangered Buildings list has highlighted historic buildings and sites at risk of demolition, and mobilized public and stakeholder support to save them.
As the organization approaches its 25th anniversary, speaker Ward Miller, will reflect on Preservation Chicago’s many successes, including the Century and Consumers Buildings, the Thompson Center, St. Adalbert’s Church, and The Warehouse, while revisiting some of the unfortunate losses over the years.

About the speaker
Ward Miller studied architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and attended Northwestern University. He spent 20 years at Vinci-Hamp Architects, Inc. (formerly the Office of John Vinci), where he served as project architect and manager on major restoration projects. These included Holy Family Church — designed by Dillenberg & Zucker, John Van Osdel, and John Huber — the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany by Burling & Whitehouse, and the Heller House by Frank Lloyd Wright, among others... read more
