Richard M. DaleyHONOREE
The longest-serving mayor in Chicago’s history, Richard M. Daley has earned an international reputation as a leading innovator in urban development, fiscal policy and government stewardship. During his service he established an urban design legacy with a lengthy list of achievements. Most notably, the creation of the architecturally stunning Millennium Park. He also moved Lake Shore Drive to create the Museum Campus, planted more than 600,000 trees, constructed more than 85 miles of landscaped medians and built seven million square feet of planted roofs—more than any other city in America. Mr. Daley championed the new Soldier Field, preserved historic buildings and developed plans for improving the Chicago River by creating the Chicago Riverwalk. Mr. Daley is an advocate of public art, parks, city festivals and celebrating Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods.
All proceeds from the Gala benefit CAF’s youth education programs. CAF reaches more than 45,000 students a year with architecture, engineering and design education activities and curricula. Join us to inspire the next generation of architects and designers to discover why design matters.
