Completed in fall 2016, the Chicago Riverwalk is a 1.25-mile promenade through the heart of Chicago. Locals and visitors flock to the area in the summer to enjoy bars, restaurants, boating, live music, public art and dramatic views. Get a preview of all the programming that will be offered along the riverfront through October during this 12-hour celebration, hosted by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

To kick off the day, a few lucky guests will join us for FREE Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise aboard Chicago’s First Lady. The winning passengers (chosen from a lottery drawing* on May 9) will depart on the river cruise at 112 E. Wacker Dr., Riverwalk Level on Saturday, May 19 at 9am.

In addition, you can enjoy a FREE ** 45-minute CAF docent-led walking tour along the Riverwalk. See some of the city’s newest skyscrapers and learn how the Riverwalk was built. Tours will depart at 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm. To participate, make a reservation online and meet at the Vietnam War Memorial at State Street and Wabash Avenue.

Activities hosted by other organizations include a canine cruise, bridge lifts, a parade of boats, a puppet show, fishing for kids, live music and a waterfall display. For information, visit
