The Conservation Plan is the first comprehensive blueprint for the growth and maintenance of the nation's oldest and largest forest preserve district since the preserves were conceived in Daniel Burnham’s 1909 Plan of Chicago. It is proposing ways to make the preserves more inviting and accessible to thousands of Chicago area residents. Learn about the strategies and obstacles to meeting these ambitious goals.

Arnold Suit

Arnold L. Randall is the General Superintendent of the Forest Preserves of Cook County and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the nation’s oldest and largest forest preserve system. He has helped develop and execute strategic plans for camping, recreation, trails and habitat restoration, launched a multi-year Centennial celebration to bring new and diverse audiences to the Preserves, and expanded the Preserves’ important role in the scientific and academic communities. Arnold previously served as Director of the Office of Civic Engagement at the University of Chicago. He led the Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid Committee's neighborhood legacy team and worked as Commissioner of the City of Chicago's Department of Planning and Development.
