Discover the innovative ways former Chicago Public School buildings have been adapted and renewed to serve new roles in their communities.
In 2013, former Mayor Rahm Emanuel made the contentious decision to close 50 Chicago Public Schools across the city. In the decade since, some of those schools have had new life breathed into them and they now serve as apartment buildings and private schools. On this bus tour, we’ll visit the Peabody School Apartments, the Motley School Apartments, Wolcott College Prep and more. Find out what it’s like to live in converted classrooms and see the amenities that have been created in these repurposed spaces.
