Daytime Talk: Rescuing the Congress Theater

Despite being closed since 2013, the Congress Theater continues to command attention, with its fantastic façade and its Roaring Twenties legacy. Woodhouse Tinucci’s proposal—which is currently on display in CAF’s “Between States: 50 Designers Transform Chicago’s Neighborhoods” exhibit—includes revitalizing the theater so it can host events again, but also creatively connecting four buildings that occupy the block.

Program Speaker: Andy Tinucci

Andy Tinucci is a partner at Woodhouse Tinucci Architects. He joined David Woodhouse Architects in 2002, as the project architect for the Morton Arboretum Visitor Center. Prior to joining the firm, Andy spent six years working for Rick Joy Architects in Tucson, Arizona. He has received numerous awards for his work, appeared in more than 60 publications and lectured at several universities. He also works as a studio assistant professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Andy is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and University of Arizona.

Program Speaker: Michael Moyer

Michael Moyer is an experienced real estate investor and developer in Chicago. He had led high-profile projects that have spawned revitalization in a number of city neighborhoods, including Helmut Jahn’s 600 North Fairbanks condominium building and the renovation of the Old Colony Building. He also spearheaded the redevelopment of the mixed-use block adjacent to City Hall that includes the Cadillac Palace Theater, Hotel Allegro, restaurants and retail. Michael's career began with Price Waterhouse & Co. He later served as vice president of finance for Melvin Simon and Associates and managed real estate for the Van Kampen family. Michael has degrees in accounting and political science and has served on the board for several civic and community organizations.
