Like many of Chicago’s grand movie palaces, the Congress Theater has seen better days. That doesn’t mean its best days are behind it. Join us for a talk with Woodhouse Tinucci Architects and theater owner Michael Moyer, the team leading an adaptive reuse of this Logan Square icon.
Despite being closed since 2013, the Congress Theater continues to command attention, with its fantastic façade and its Roaring Twenties legacy. Woodhouse Tinucci’s proposal—which is currently on display in CAF’s “Between States: 50 Designers Transform Chicago’s Neighborhoods” exhibit—includes revitalizing the theater so it can host events again, but also creatively connecting four buildings that occupy the block.
